Super Cute Gift Card Holder

Today I have a super cute gift card holder to share with you. I received this project via a recent swap I participated in. This was made by fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrator Lilly R.

 

 

Here is the box open.

 

Isn’t it cute! This is a versatile project! How great would this be as a graduation gift card holder! I love how she used a brad as a tie tack! Lilly used the Simply Scored to create the box. She created the shirt by using the Big Shot and the Stripes embossing folder on a separate card stock panel then she attached it to the top of the box.

Home Décor: Spring Theme Mini Printer’s Tray

Spring is just about a week away! I am looking forward to the warmer weather, pretty flowers, and longer days. How about you? What do you look forward to in the spring? To help get my home in the mood for spring, I put together this little mini spring theme printer’s tray. It will look great on the table in my entry way.

 

 

To create this project you will need the following supplies:

Stamp Set: Morning Post Alphabet (available wood mount or clear mount)

Ink: Basic Gray

Paper/Card Stock: Twitterpated, Old Olive, Baja Breeze, Pretty in Pink

Punches: Elegant Butterfly, Bitty Butterfly, 1-1/4” Scallop Circle, Itty Bitty Punch Pack (flower)

Big Shot & Die: Hearts a Flutter Framelits

Creating a Card Box Using the Simply Scored

Recently I made a set of golf note cards for a client and I wanted to present the cards in something nice. Since there were 40 note cards and envelopes, I didn’t have a box large enough to fit all of them. I decided to create my own box for the note cards using the Simply Scored.

 

 

Making your own boxes for a set of cards is actually pretty easy to do. The hardest part is figuring out the size of the box you need. To figure out the size of the box I do the following:

• Measure the height, length, and width of the items you want to place in the box. For this project the stack of note cards and envelopes was just about 2 inches high. The note card envelopes were 5.25” long x 3.5” wide.
• For the cards and envelopes to fit in the box, you need to make the box slightly larger than the envelopes. So my box needs to be 5.5” long x 3.75” wide. I made the height of the box 2” because I plan to tie a ribbon around the cards & envelopes in the box so they will have plenty of room with a box 2 inches high.
• To figure out how much card stock I need for the box I add the following:  

Card stock width: 2” + 5.5” + 2” = 9.5”

Card stock length: 2” = 3.75” + 2” = 7.75”

Final card stock measurement for the box: 9.5” wide x 7.7” long – Using the Simply Scored this card stock will be scored at 2” on all sides

 

Now onto the lid. The lid is basically a box bottom with shorter sides. The lid needs to be just slightly wider than the box base so it fits over top. It’s completely up to you the height of the sides. For my lid, I wanted the sides to be ¾”. So to figure out how much card stock I need for the box lid I add the following:

Card stock width: ¾” + 5-5/8” + ¾” = 7-1/8”

Card stock length: ¾” + 3-7/8” + ¾” = 5-3/8”

Final card stock measurement for the lid: 7-1/8” wide x 5-3/8” long – Using the Simply Scored this card stock will be scored at ¾” on all sides

 

Once you have the card stock for the box and lid scored, fold all of the score lines. Use a bone folder for nice, crisp folds. Oh…before I forget, if you are going to decorate the box and/or lid decorate it before you assemble it. It’s much easier to decorate while the pieces are flat.

 

Ok – now to assemble the box and lid. You will notice the score lines intersected in the corners of the card stock.  You want to make 4 cuts (1 per corner along a score line) using a sharp scissor to the 2” score line for the box and to the ¾” score line for the lid – this will make a flap in each corner.  Then using a strong adhesive so the box doesn’t fall apart assemble the box.  (I used Sticky Strip)

Whenever I am making a box, I always do a trial run with some copy paper to make sure I have the measurements the way I want them.

Decorated Candy and Treat Ideas

Yesterday I shared with you all the fun we had this past weekend at the NJ Crop Weekends Winter Crop 2013. One of the activities I participated in was the Chocolate Candy Swap. A swap is basically a trade. The number of participants determines how many swaps you will need. In this swap there were 7 of us participating. We packaged our favorite chocolates as creatively (or not) as we wanted and brought enough for all the swappers!

 

 

With Valentine’s Day literally around the corner, let’s take a look at some of the creative ways you can package up some sweet treats! This first project is a stamped wine glass filled with chocolates! FYI – the swapper shared that if you use this technique the ink needs to be heat set. She purchased the glass ink at a local craft store.

 

 

This is a fun way to wrap up a candy bar. Just wrap up the candy bar like a package using your favorite patterned paper and then attach a stamped tag.

 

 

Here’s my swap. It is a treat tube filled with hugs and kisses! I used the Big Shot at the Fun Flowers Bigz L Die to create the flower on top of the tube. The center of the flower is piece of the Vanilla Flower Trim. I wrapped some  Tea for Two Designer Series Paper to decorate the top and bottom of the treat tube.

 

 

I love this little milk carton filled with candies! The swapper made the milk carton out of half a sheet of 12x12 card stock. She wrapped the box with some More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper.

Last Minute Handmade Gift Idea

Just 1 week until Christmas! Where did the year go! The older I get the fast time seems to go by. With 7 days until Christmas I have a simple, fast last minute handmade gift idea for you using a 7 Gypsies 6 slot printer’s tray. You could easily adapt this project to any multi-photo picture frame. This project came together in just about an hour.

 

 

Here is the printer tray on a bench in our entry way.

 

 

If you are making this for a friend or family member you can leave the photo spots blank for them to add their own. If you are going to use your own photos no worries if you don’t have 2 vertical oriented pictures – just trim your pics to 3.5 W x 4 H and mat them – they’ll look great!

Christmas Home Décor Banner Using the Big Shot

I love decorating for the holidays don’t you?? Lately I’ve been into gingerbread houses, don’t know why but I’ve got a cute little collection of them now. They make me happy just like this cute little Merry banner I have to share with you today!

 

 

This banner would look great hanging from your fireplace mantel or bookcase, across a mirror, or even on your Christmas tree! The patterned paper is from the Be of Good Cheer DSP.  The color scheme is Cherry Cobbler, Gumball Green, and Very Vanilla.

 

This project came together pretty quickly with the help of my trusty crafting buddy – the Big Shot! I love the Big Shot – I think it may be my “go to” paper crafting tool! I used the following 3 dies:

• Circles #2
• Perfect Pennants Bigz L
• Typeset Alphabet Bigz

Altered Mason Jar Using the Friendship Preserves Stamp Set

Are you going somewhere for Thanksgiving dinner? Do you still need a hostess gift? If you are I have a gift that would be perfect for your hostess! And it is simple and fast to assemble with a just a few supplies. I altered a simple mason jar with the Friendship Preserves Stamp Set and some designer series paper and ta-da an adorable gift that your hostess will be sure to love!

 

 

Isn’t it sweet! You can fill this altered mason jar with candies, nuts, or place a gift card inside! Change the DSP and it would be a great thinking of you gift for Hanukkah, Christmas, or birthday! I used a smaller jelly jar but you could easily size up the design for a quart size mason jar.

 

To create this project you will need the following supplies:

Ink: Cajun Craze

Simple Holiday Home Décor Using the Ornament Keepsakes Stamp Set

I love to decorate my home for the holidays especially Christmas. I created this simple holiday home décor project with a 3D ornament to display on my entry table. It would also make a great little gift for a neighbor, teacher or friend.

 

 

Isn’t it sweet! It is simple and you could make a few of these pretty quickly for gifts.

 

Supply List:

Stamp Set: Ornament Keepsakes (wood mount, clear mount), More Merry Messages (wood mount, clear mount)

Big Shot & die: Holiday Ornaments Framelits, Apothecary Accents Framelits

Card Stock/DSP: Whisper White, Be of Good Cheer (size: 4” x 6”)

Ink: Cherry Cobbler

Other: 4x6 frame, basic rhinestones, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Whisper White 3/8” Taffeta Ribbon, Simply Scored

 

Instructions:

1. Create bow from Whisper White 3/8” Taffeta Ribbon. Adhere to Be of Good Cheer (4”x6”) DSP.
2. Using Cherry Cobbler Ink and Ornament Keepsakes stamp, stamp 4 ornaments. Die cut ornaments using the Big Shot and the coordinating Holiday Ornaments Framelits. TIP: I find it helpful to use a post-it note or 2 to hold the framelit die in place. Score each die cut ornament in half using the Simply Scored. Adhere the ornaments to each other. Adhere to Be of Good Cheer DSP.
3. Using Whisper White CS, Big Shot, and Apothecary Accents Framelits die cut label. Using Cherry Cobbler Ink and More Merry Messages stamp set, stamp sentiment on label. Embellish with Basic Rhinestones. Adhere to Be of Good Cheer DSP using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
4. Remove glass from picture frame and replace with your paper craft project. Note: Be sure to replace frame back.

Candlelight Christmas Home Décor

On Wednesdays to coordinate with my 12 Weeks of Christmas Project Newsletter I am trying to feature a holiday themed project here on my blog too! A while ago a friend of mine gave me a bunch of 5x7 rectangle wood plaques that she did not need so I decided to make some Christmas home décor with it using the Candlelight Christmas DSP from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog.

 

 

I really like how these came out! I matted the DSP on Lucky Limeade card stock. The letters were die cut with Real Red and Very Vanilla card stock and I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere theme to the DSP. For a little bling I added a few basic rhinestones to the letters. For some depth I inked all of the paper edges with Soft Suede ink.

1 Halloween Themed Embellishment 2 Party Favors

Halloween is just around the corner and of course my kids have a few Halloween parties to attend. They are super excited! My youngest who will be dressed as Belle is in preschool and they will be having a little party during school. We signed up to bring a non-food party favor. In addition my BFF since forever has a party on Halloween. We go to her house to eat, play games and of course trick or treat. I figured since I had to make some party favors for my little one I might as well make some favors for the other party.

 

I designed 1 embellishment but used it in 2 different ways. The first is as a topper for a narrow cello bag with a Halloween pencil.

 

 

For the second design I took the pencil topper and added it to a bag topper to create this Halloween party favor filled with treats!

 

 

 

The design is simple on purpose – the kids don’t really care about the decoration – they want the treat! Hehehe! Plus they are super easy and quick to make by using the Big Shot and some punches. Here is the supply list to create these embellishments:

 

Stamp sets: Mixed Medley (hostess), Googly Ghouls (available in wood mount and clear mount)

Ink: Stazon Jet Black

Card Stock: Basic Black, Garden Green, Rich Razzleberry

Punches: 1.25” scallop circle, 1.75” circle, 1-3/8” circle

Big Shot and Die:  Perfect Pennants Bigz L Note: if you want to make the bag topper you will also need the Top Note Die

Googly Ghouls Candy Bar Wrapper

Are you going to a Halloween party this year? If you are then I have the perfect little favor for the kids (and kids at heart) using the Googly Ghouls stamp set (available in wood mount and clear mount). It is a candy bar wrapper. The wrapper slides over a standard size chocolate bar. You can make this wrapper with a few scraps of paper.

 

Isn’t it cute!  I received this adorable wrapper in a SUDSOL project swap and it was made by fellow demonstrator Brenda C. To make this wrapper you will need the following supplies:

 

Stamp Sets: Border Banter, Googly Ghouls

Ink: Jet Black StazOn, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Gray

Card Stock:  Basic Black, Wisteria Wonder, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White

Other: Googlies, Basic Black Marker, White Bakers Twine, Big Shot, Square Lattice embossing folder, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Simply Scored

 

Some helpful hints:

*Card stock dimensions for the wrapper: 5.5” x 2.5”

*Score card stock wrapper at: 1.25”, 1.5”, 3-7/8”, 4-1/8”

*If you don’t want to hand cut the mummy and bat, use circle or oval punches instead

*If you are making a bunch of wrappers, you can die cut a few pieces of card stock at a time
