New Stampin’ Up! Catalog Sneak Peak: Simply Sketched Stamp Set & new In Colors

In just over 1 week the new Stampin’ Up! catalog for 2013-2014 will be here! Today I have a sneak peak for you featuring the new Simply Sketched Stamp Set (Hostess Set, available wood mount and clear mount) and 2 of the brand new IN Colors: Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding!

 

 

 

I stamped the flower image with Jet Black Stazon ink and then colored in the flower using a blender pen and 2 new In Colors: Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding. The other new In Colors are: Baked Brown Sugar, Costal Cabana, and Strawberry Slush – don’t they sound scrumptious! I used the Big Shot and the Framed Tulip Embossing Folder to create a border on the Crisp Cantaloupe card base.

 

 I love this stamp set! Don’t you?  In addition to the flower there is a sketched bird and a sketched branch plus 3 greetings (happy birthday wishes, thanks so much, and with heartfelt sympathy) for a total of 6 stamps in the set. I have a feeling I will be using this stamp set a lot! Be on the lookout for more projects!

Halloween Scrapbook Layout using the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper

When I first saw the Tangerine Tango diagonal stripe patterned paper in the Sycamore Street DSP I immediately thought of Halloween!  The Sycamore Street DSP is 1 of the offerings in the Stampin' Up! 2013 Sale-A-Bration catalog. I created this fast, easy, single photo digital layout using MDS2. MDS2 is Stampin’ Up!’s digital paper crafting program. Let’s take a look at this  12x12 scrapbook page.

 

Isn’t the Tangerine Tango striped paper great! I love the color combination of the orange and purple (Rich Razzleberry) with some Summer Starfruit (that paper is from the DSP too) and a very little bit of white and black. It’s just right for a Halloween color scheme! I also added some of the Sycamore Street buttons too! When you first look at all of the patterns in the Sycamore Street DSP – I don’t think Halloween is the 1^st thing that comes to mind. I love how this paper is so versatile! It also has some great Pool Party blue patterned paper that would be great for a layout about going to the beach or an island vacation!

I love the color combination Mary Grace used of Island Indigo, Pool Party, and Tangerine Tango. She used the rule of thirds and placed the embossed Vine Street image on the top 2/3 of the card. This makes for a well balanced card.

Two cards using the Big Shot and the Vine Street Embossing Folder

I love the new Vine Street Embossing Folder. It is one of the offerings in the Sale-A-Bration 2013 brochure. You use this embossing folder along with the Big Shot to dry emboss your card stock and other materials.

 

For me I found that this particular folder creates a very deep impression and creases the card stock when embossing. To fix the creasing issue, I added a piece of copy paper between the card stock and embossing folder. By doing this you get a crisp, sharp emboss without the creasing. Each embossing folder and Big Shot is slightly different so try your embossing out on a scrap paper first and then use the copy paper trick if you need to :)

 

Let’s take a look at the cards. I’m using both of these cards for 2 different card swaps in February.

 

This birthday card uses the Word Play Stamp Set (available in wood mount & clear mount) along with the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper (SAB 2013 #127540) and Ribbon (SAB 2013 #130812). The Vine Street embossing is on the upper white panel.

 

 

This thank you card is just too stinkin’ cute! The stamp set is the new Sale-A-Bration offering Patterned Occasions (available in wood mount & clear mount). I used the debossed Vine Street on this card. The color combination is Pool Party, Whisper White, Tangerine Tango and Rich Razzleberry.

This is an awesome digital suite filled with 12 greeting card templates, 12 scrapbook page templates, 65 piece stamp brush set, 7 designer series papers, and 14 embellishments! It rocks! The colors are Basic Gray, Bermuda Bay, Crumb Cake, and Crushed Curry. It’s fun, it’s fresh and it’s hip! I have 3 projects to share with you all using the Lemonade Stand kit and MDS2 (Stampin’ Up!’s digital paper crafting program).

 

The first 2 projects are cards – they are card templates included in the kit. I did nothing to tweak these cards. I am showing them to you how they come. And they are great as is. I would use them this way but if you didn’t like something you can easily change things out in MDS2.

Card #2 -- note card size (3.5x5) apology card

 

 

The next project is 1 of the 12x12 scrapbook layout templates. I tweaked this layout slightly. Aside from adding my photo and journaling, I also added the tab with date below the photo. Super easy to do!

Sale-A-Bration Sneak Peak: Vintage Faceted Buttons

Sale-A-Bration 2013 is 1 day away! Sale-A-Bration is Stampin’ Up!’s largest sale of the year! For every $50 in product you purchase you can choose a FREE Sale-A-Bration item! Today we are going to take a look at a Sale-A-Bration item that is found in the annual catalog:  the Vintage Faceted Buttons. I know we looked at these buttons the other day but that was on a card. Today I used them to embellish a scrapbook page.

 

This is a single photo scrapbook layout I created for a scrapbooking class I taught back in the fall. It is based on a layout I saw at the Stampin’ Up! annual convention. (you can check out the original layout by clicking here). I only recently added the photo. I used my daughter’s school photo on the layout. Let’s take a look at it:

 

 

I love this layout! To create the background I used the Daydream Medallions Stamp Set (available in wood mount and clear mount). Some of the medallion centers are embellished with the Vintage Faceted Buttons. I used the Pool Party Baker’s Twine to thread the buttons. I like the look of a threaded button. I know there is much debate about threading buttons or not. I almost always thread them. What do you do? I think they look finished that way.

 

Tomorrow to kick off Sale-A-Bration 2013 we’ll take a look at the Lemonade Stand Digital Disk. This digital content disk includes 65 piece stamp set, embellishments, scrapbook page templates, and card templates.

Sale-A-Bration 2013 Sneak Peak: Vintage Faceted Buttons & Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set

Both are items that are found in the annual catalog: Vintage Faceted Buttons & Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set (available in wood mount and clear mount).

 

To showcase these products I have 2 cards to share with you. The first is a card that was inspired by a card I came across on Pinterest. The second is a stepped up version of the card. Let’s take a look at the CASE’d card first – oh CASE means to Copy And Share Everything.

 

 

 

In the above card I used the same design but my stamps, colors, and embellishments are different. The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Banners Stamp Set and the background grungy stamp is from the Clockworks Stamp Set (available in wood mount & clear mount). I used some Champagne Glimmer Paint on the background image as well. I distressed the papers with some Soft Suede Ink and used the Color Spritzer Tool and Soft Suede marker to add a little ink spatter. I secured the sentiment with the Vintage Faceted Button. Oh and to cut out the stamped Love You sentiment I used the Big Shot and coordinating Bitty Banner Framelits!

 

Here’s the stepped up version.

 

 

With this card I added another stamped image from the Clockworks Stamp Set in the upper right corner of the card. I also added a dyed lace doily and instead of the vintage faceted button I custom dyed some flower trim.  In addition I did not use any Champagne Glimmer Paint.

These cards were super easy to make in MDS2. I had to use the “hello” sentiment with the phone booth – just seemed like the perfect match! And the “celebrate” seem appropriate for the Ferris wheel since they remind me of fun and parties!

Sale-A-Bration Sneak Peak: Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper

Day 3 of my Sale-A-Bration 2013 sneak peak and today we are looking at the new Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper! This patterned paper is awesome! It is trendy and hip! So fresh! I just love it and I know you will too! The patterns are bold and graphic and include the following colors: Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo, Pool Party, Rich Razzleberry, Sahara Sand, Summer Starfruit, and Whisper White.

But it also coordinates with a stamp set from the Spring Catalog – Ciao, Baby! (available in wood mount and clear mount).

 

The card I have for you today features the Ciao, Baby! Stamp set along with the Summer Smooches DSP! It’s a happy little card that it sure to brighten up someone’s day! I used the Petite Curly Label Punch to punch out a bunch of little labels as well as the coordinated stamped sentiment. My card was inspired by a couple cards I found on Stampin’ Connection which is an online community for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators only – it is filled with project ideas and information!

 

So what do you think??? I added the little punched flowers for some dimension. I also used a Stampin’ Dimensional behind the stamped & punched sentiment.
