How many of you love jewelry? I sure do! There is nothing like a new hip pair of earrings or a cool new bracelet. Well the Simply Adorned product line combines the best of two worlds: paper crafting and jewelry!
I bet you probably weren’t even aware that Stampin’ Up! offers a jewelry making line. Let me give you all the details. Simply Adorned charms are designed to hold a creation you design yourself, making your jewelry truly unique. The charms are lockets--they open up so you can insert your custom stamped image. The charms are available in five different sizes:
- Square charms: 5/8" x 5/8" and 1" x 1"
- Rectangle charms: 1" x 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" x 2"
- Circle charm: 5/8"
It is important to note that the charm size listed refers to the charm insert; the metal frame around the insert is slightly larger. You can use the included insert as a template to create the perfect-sized piece of artwork for your frame. Make sure your insert matches the insert template exactly. The hinge on your charm can break if your insert is too large and overlaps onto the frame. Once you completed creating your custom design, place the charm on either the Simply Adorned stainless steel 8 inch bracelet or 24 inch Simply Adorned chain necklace.
Now onto the fun stuff, creating your insert! You can use whatever you choose to create your charm insert. The insert can be as simple as a photo or use the Tiny Tags or Charming stamp sets, along with glitter, ribbons, basic pearls, or basic rhinestones to create your unique charm insert. The Itty Bitty Punch Pack or the Small Heart Punch are perfect to use to create small embellishments for your charms. And don't forget that you can embellish the chains with ribbon too! The frame surrounds tempered beveled glass on the front and flat glass on the back. Because there's glass on both sides of the charm, you can display an image on one side or both. You can create a custom piece that you'll never want to change, or you can swap artwork in and out. Here is an example of a charm a fellow demonstrator, Tina, made for me. She gave it to me when we were at the Stampin’ Up! 2011 Convention and I placed it on the 8 inch stainless steel bracelet. I love how she added the Wisteria Wonder jewelry tag to the outside of the charm!
The number of layers that fit inside each charm depends on the type of materials used. The space in the charm is 2 mm. You can break the hinge on your charm if your inserts are too thick. Never force the charm closed. If the charm does not close easily, remove a layer or two from your insert and try again.
Don’t be afraid to give your Simply Adorned creations as gifts. Each piece (charms, bracelet, & necklace) comes in a very nice quality Chocolate Chip box. For some extra fun and bling add a Simply Adorned Baubles to your bracelet, charm, or chain! Making these charms are addictive! I think I am going to make some charms with photos of the kids for Christmas gifts – I know the grandmas will just love them!
